Secondary School Prefectorate Swears In

Written by Tobias Mugume.

THE INCOMING GHA SECONDARY LEADERS

The 16th of April 2018, ushered in the incoming Greenhill Academy Secondary School prefectural and Students Council bodies in a colorful and well organized event under the theme, ‘Leadership that propels innovation and initiativeness’. The event that began with a breathtaking praise and worship session that kept the audience on their feet also displayed the high level of creativity and talent the students possess.

In attendance as the Guest of Honor was Col. Felix Kulayigye and a special guest Mrs. Jovita Ajuna, a Media in Education Advocacy Manager and Toto Magazine Editor Newvision Uganda who made the event even more memorable.

As the outgoing leaders peacefully handed over power to the incoming leaders one could not help but notice the high level of democracy among the young students. As another important sign of democracy the out-going Head prefect, Daniella Isimbi delivered an emotional speech to the audience highlighting how much she had learned as a leader and the important value of team work. She went on to encourage the incoming leaders to work together and serve their people diligently. Concluding her speech, she asked her team to put down the ‘Justice League’ banner of the cabinet as the school would now usher in another cabinet into office.

Miss Daniella’s speech was then followed by another energetic speech from the incoming Head Prefect, Talemwa Ezra emphasizing the fact that his entire cabinet was humbled to be chosen and are ready to serve to the best of their ability.

The event, was then crowned by an inspiration speech caped with immense wisdom from Col. Felix Kulagiye. In his speech, he emphasized that the main challenge in our continent today is leadership where, people lead themselves instead of the people who have chosen under the false illusion that they are great which is absolutely wrong. He further urged the leaders to serve where, they sacrifice for the good of the rest because that is what truly makes a leader. He also emphasized that prefects should master the art of balancing their responsibility leaders and their role as students; they should ensure to help the school to achieve its targets. In relation to the theme, Col. Felix highlighted the great importance of being proactive and innovative as a leader and that by the time one leaves office they should have left an important mark by which they can be remembered. To the parents in attendance, He thanked them for being present. Many parents today are not present in their children’s lives; seeing parents this involved is great. He finally concluded his speech by thanking the entire school administration for organizing such a colorful event and inviting him to grace it as the Guest of Honor.

From all us at Greenhill Academy, we would like to thank the outgoing cabinet led by Daniella Isimbi for the work well done. To the incoming prefectural body led by Talemwa Ezra and the Students council body, Niyonzima Emmauel Fabrice, we wish you the very best and are excited to see what you have to offer in your term of office.
