Saturday 2nd March, 2019 was truly a day to remember. It began with a downpour that left everyone wondering how the day’s activities would take place. However, the sun came to our rescue when it shone through and alas…, all was right and ripe with the world again.
Shortly after, the event officially commenced at 4:00pm with a red carpet event that took everyone’s breath away with screams from the onlookers reverberating through the walls of the secondary building as the students of the senior six class strode past them to the main hall.
Once inside, the silver-lilac décor complimented the elegance of those in attendance. After a colourful photo session, the Masters-of-ceremony lit up the room with compliments and humour.
The speeches came forth from the class teachers, administration, and the beautiful Guest of honour, the Public Relations Officer of the Greenhill Academy Schools, Ms. Irene Esther Mutuzo who encouraged the students to foster and maintain beneficial friendships among them.
There was fine dining complimented by the soothing music. The aroma of the food split through the air. We were all full of smiles.
The climax of the event was the crowning of the Prom King and Queen, Ngabo Aaron and Kagoma Martha.
We were all together in unity…, ‘El Mayara’ for we are stronger together!

Strength and Beauty in Diversity
By degrees, the event that had seemed to be a pie in the sky in Senior One had finally come to pass and by the looks of it; it was worth the wait! The Junior Prom was one of the most exquisite functions of the year. It exposed the glamour and hidden fashion that was yet to be discovered in the students.
The crowd roared to life with vibrant applause in astonishment once the students started to make their way down the red carpet.
The ladies showcased their elegance and beauty in their dazzling outfits, while the gentlemen exhibited styles that seemed were made in heaven.
As the students settled in the main hall, they received the shock of their lives at the sight of their former class teacher also known as, ‘the Village Chief’, Mr. Kizito Justus who would later be introduced as the Guest of Honour of the event. At 06:00pm, nothing was more magnetic than the nose-tickling aroma of the dinner.
When the time came, it was not a hard choice to make. For it was the perfect Prom Queen, Ericah Ashanut and the Prom King, Mbowa Andrew. While on their respective thrones, they looked unbeatably royal!
By and large, one could say that this was a hallmark to be left by the S.4 Class 2019. It will forever be an inerasable memory to hold us together. Everything was in an apple pie order. There was no crack to be fixed but just more applause to be won.

GREENHILL ACADEMY WINS THE 3RD SEASON OF THE NBS NATIONAL SCHOOL DEBATE.
The third season of the NBS National School Debate Championship run by the Uganda Debate Society finally ended on Saturday 16th February, 2019. Greenhill Academy in its packaging for a holistic education was part of this exciting learning experience which began in the year 2018 till 16th February 2019.
Numerous schools participated in this intellectual battle and among which were Nabisunsa Girls’ School and Taibah International School. Consequently, Greenhill Academy students had to traverse the country in such for victories and indeed, victories were registered. However, it was not all plain sailing. The lost battles all helped in laying the firm foundation that saw the school team rise to the occasion when the opportune time came.
Undeniably, winners do not quit. The passion driven team strode on with God on their side, even at their lowest point and it paid off on the D-day at Baptist High School. The host school was the defending champion for the previous season. However, the witty Greenhill Academy team tore into victory after flooring Baptist High School in the Grand Finale.
The orators who flew our flag high throughout the season were:
- Kakembo Monica
- Mayeku Richard
- Masaba Brionny
The sweet victory came with prizes. During the award ceremony, the jury found it wise to declare the meticulous Kakembo Monica as the overall best speaker for the season. The team was awarded medals, certificates and a trophy for their excellent performance.
As season 3 drew to a close, the new season was launched henceforth. Greenhill Academy is all geared up and ready for another exciting opportunity to exhibit its intellectual superiority in the oratory world! Congratulations to our orators; you have made Greenhill Academy proud.

On the 29th November 2018, pupils from the Greenhill Primary School Buwaate campus visited the Katalemwa Cheshire Home for Rehabilitation services where children with various disabilities are rehabilitated. While here, the pupils got a chance to interact with some of the children at the home; present the different donations the school gave towards the Katalemwa cause; were exposed to how some of these disabilities are caused and how the children are rehabilitated.
For many of the children, this was such an eye opening experience teaching them to be thankful for what they have and to appreciate and respect people in spite of their differences. We would like to thank all the pupils, staff and parents who gave towards this cause. Two of the pupils had this to narrate about their experience:
“On the 29th November 2018, I and a group of other children went to Katalemwa. When we arrived, the children there were very happy. We also went with some teachers who helped us to carry the gifts we had donated to the children.
While there, we went into the different dormitories of the children, saw some of the tools used by the disabled children and how they are made. Some of the children we saw were lame while others had mental disabilities. The workshop where the tools are made had four sections. One was the metal section; another the plastic section, wood and leather sections. I was greatly touched and humbled by these children, I almost cried. After the tour, we said a prayer with the children and said goodbye to then”.
Oseku Ethan P.4 Green
“…twenty eight of us left the school at around 10.00am to visit the home where we saw children with different disabilities. Some had mental disabilities, were lame and many more. The children were well taken care of, were happy and loved.
As we toured the area, we also saw the workshop where tools for these children like the wheel chairs and standing frames were made. As we carried the donations out of the van and gave them to the children, I could clearly see how happy they were.”

To our upcoming engineers; keep designing, keep building and creating. Your future is very bright!

Mrs. Shamim Nsubuga Walusimbi an old student of Greenhill Academy Primary Kibuli (1996-2002), has made her mark in the Human Resource Field of Uganda. She is currently a Member of the Governing Council at Human Resource Managers' Association of Uganda (HRMAU) and a Human Resource Management Generalist at NFT Consult. Here’s what she had to say about her experience at Greenhill Academy.
“There are plenty of pleasant memories I gained from Greenhill Academy. Right from pre- primary to P7, this wonderful institution gave me knowledge that has greatly contributed to everything I know today and, the foundation of my career. Greenhill Academy formed my current mentality, psychology and made me who I am today.
I loved that the teachers of Greenhill Academy helped us maintain a balance by giving us time to play (in Namboole) and weekly movies; how they would let us come to school with board games to relax after end of term exams, enabling us to cool down as we wait for results. I loved the afternoons spent in the shade with granny and the way the teachers treated and respected us. Back then, the school had a no-canning policy which I am glad to say continues to prevail. We were always encouraged to learn principles of self-discipline and be accountable for our actions.
I could go on and on about what I loved. To sum it all up, I loved my experience at Greenhill Academy, and will forever be grateful to my parents who chose this great institution for me.
Long Live Greenhill Academy.

At Greenhill Academy, we believe learning is continuous and never ends. It is for this reason therefore, we seek to create partnerships with schools all over the world with whom we share knowledge and new ideas with.
Between the 17th and 21st of September 2018, eleven staff from the Greenhill Academy Schools led by the Rector, Mrs. Joy Veronica Maraka visited some of the top four performing schools in Mombasa which were; Aga khan Academy Mombasa; Aga khan Nursery, Primary and High School; Loreto Convent Mombasa and; Bridge International Academy Shanzu.
At these schools, the Greenhill Academy team was exposed to the Kenyan National Curriculum and IB curriculum; ICT integration in learning and administration; interactive school environments; inquiry based and child-centered teaching methodologies; different co-curricular activities and how they run to mention but a few.
We believe all the lessons learned will indeed be implemented to further uphold the Greenhill Academy brand. The Greenhill Academy schools pledge to continue creating such relationships and long term partnerships meant to provide more knowledge and skills development.
